Clifton and Hotwells: concealed roofs and changes in height
Bristol City Council's Clifton and Hotwells appraisal describes streets rising steeply from the harbour and a variety of pitched, mansard and parapet-concealed roofs. Its Clifton Wood section records natural slate and clay double-Roman coverings alongside brick chimneys. [1]
For your purchase: A flat-looking frontage may hide a pitched roof or an internal valley. We assess the visible coverings, parapet junctions and drainage routes within the agreed access, and identify where a closer view is still needed. Do not assume a clear front photograph proves the concealed parts are sound or that every Bristol terrace has the same roof material.
